Ant-Man 3: release date, cast and everything you need to know

Ant-Man 3 might not be the most anticipated MCU movie from any Marvel fan, but it could become one of the most important in the post-Endgame MCU.

The three school was officially confirmed in November 2019 with Peyton Reed directing along with Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly reprising their roles as Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne, also known as Ant-Man and The Wasp.

And it turns out that they could face the MCU's next Big Bad.

But who is it and why is it so important? Read on to find out everything you need to know about Ant-Man 3.

Ant-Man 3 cast: Who will return for Ant-Man 3?

As mentioned above, Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly are expected to reprise their roles for the third film, although Marvel has yet to confirm anything about the cast.

They are likely to be joined by Michael Douglas as Hank Pym (the actor confirmed it to Collider himself) and Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet van Dyne as well, given that she also survived Avengers: Endgame.

However, the most interesting casting comes with the addition of Jonathan Majors from Lovecraft Country, supposedly as the Marvel supervillain Kang the Conqueror. Kang could very well be the next Thanos in the MCU, as he will appear in other movies as well.

And chances are high that if Majors plays Kang, he could be setting the stage for the arrival of the Fantastic Four to the MCU.

Other possible three-school returns include Michael Peña as the extremely talkative Luis, Judy Greer as Scott's ex-wife Maggie, and Bobby Cannavale as Maggie's new husband Jim Paxton.

Avengers: Endgame added a wrinkle though, as now it's been five years since Ant-Man and The Wasp in the MCU, so Abby Ryder Fortson won't be returning as Cassie Lang.

Instead, Emma Fuhrmann is likely to reprise her Endgame role as teenage Cassie, and if she does return, Fuhrmann is excited about the prospect of being a part of the Young Avengers in the future.

Director Peyton Reed has also not ruled out a possible return of Walter Goggins as the villain Sonny Burch: "There is always a chance."

Behind the scenes, Rick and Morty writer Jeff Loveness has signed on to write the script, but it's still unclear if Paul Rudd will be involved in the writing stage as he was with the previous two films.

Ant-Man 3 release date: When will Ant-Man 3 be released?

Official confirmation of the threequel didn't come with a release date, but Ant-Man 3 is apparently slated for "a likely release in 2022."

This was before the current global situation affected film production everywhere and the releases of films already shot, such as the MCU having to change the release schedule for Phase 4.

Michael Peña had originally suggested that the movie would be shot in early 2021 and that might still be the case, opening up the possibility of a 2022 release. However, Marvel only has another 2022 release date booked after the shakeup. of the calendar and that's October 7.

However, previous Ant-Man movies were released in late summer, so we think it's more likely to arrive in 2023 on the May 5 or July 28 slots currently reserved for 'untitled Marvel movies. '.

This is all speculation for now until we know exactly when the third part will be filmed and Marvel's plans for the release.

Ant-Man 3 plot: Who is the villain of Ant-Man 3?

Kang's reported arrival certainly points to him being the third film's main villain, though he feels too big for Ant-Man and The Wasp to face alone.

It could well be that Kang is featured in the movie, but not the main villain, so that sets the stage for Sonny Burch's return as he seeks his revenge. But could the sequel have hidden a future villain in plain sight?

As part of Ghost's backstory, it was revealed that his father was none other than Elihas Starr. He was apparently killed during a quantum experiment that caused the Ghost state, but that doesn't necessarily rule out a return.

In the comics, Elihas Starr is the longtime enemy of Ant-Man, a criminal genius known as 'Egghead', although Ant-Man and The Wasp did not force actor Michael Cerveris to wear a pointy prosthetic helmet for the role.

Given that the MCU world has changed dramatically since Avengers: Endgame, we think Egghead is unlikely to make an appearance and Ant-Man 3 is more likely to watch more.
