ABOUT OUR LADY OF THE LAKE UNIVERSITY
Our Lady of the Lake University of Notre-Dame du Lac (OLLU) is possibly a Texas-based Catholic university, with roots dating back to 1895 when it was founded by the Sisters of Divine Providence - a spiritual institute originating in France.
The university was the primary institution of higher learning in San Antonio to receive regional accreditation, and its Worden School of Social Work is the oldest school of social work in Texas.
Our Lady of the Lake University is accredited by the Universities Commission of the Southern Association of Schools and Schools to award bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees.
In 1978, the university established a Weekend College on the San Antonio campus, which was the primary program of its kind in the region to provide mature students with the opportunity to earn a degree while retaining full-time employment.
On-campus, there is an array of activities that students can get involved in. From mariachi concerts to art openings, plays, and lectures - the list is endless.
Clubs are an integral part of the OLLU experience, with organizations like Chem Club, Criminal Justice Club, Music Ensemble Association, Worden Charitable Organization, Earth Club, Freedom Fighters Gaming Club, and hence the Mizuumi Anime Club.
OLLU sports teams are called saints and they participate in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and mainly participate in the Red Sports Conference. Sports on offer include baseball, basketball, running, golf, soccer, tennis, track and field, softball, and volleyball.
Notable alumni include Naomi R. Gonzalez, a prominent lawyer and politician, Ciro Davis Rodriguez, former US representative for the 23rd District of Texas, and Emma Tenayuca, a US leader, organizer, and educator.
